anybody have a clue on the meaning of the word "whytrosik"?.
Found it on an old map beside Lasykirk here -
Lady Kirk seems to be associated with the place
I’ve never heard of the place before, but going by what I can see in the word itself, the first half is “Whyt” which we know is White and the second part is tricky Rosik, this might come from ”Rosie” or ”Ross”, I can’t see it being the Slavic word Rosic? So just by looking at the word I get Whiterose but could be way off, I’ll need to do some research into it.
thanks for bringing up the question and welcome to the website.
