This class I stone was found at Borthwick Mains near Roberton, eight miles from Ashkirk. Debate over whether it is Pictish or not, but with Pictish carving found at Trusty’s hill, Dumfries and in Princess St Gardens, Edinburgh who knows. Also quite a few of those ‘massive silver chains’ thought to be Pictish were also found in surrounding areas.
Article and Canmore entry:
I mentioned in another post that Eassie in Angus and Essie (now called Rhynie) were important Pictish sites. Sounds like Essenside a bit? Def a long shot but is interesting and gotta ask these questions.
